Keloid is a benign dermal tumor and characterized by overproliferation of fibroblasts and increased collagen synthesis. Inflammatory cells have also been implicated in the pathogenesis of keloid formation. An adequate animal model has not been developed for keloids to date. We therefore used a co-culture model to create an in vitro "keloidal environment" and investigate the interaction between keloid fibroblasts and T cells. In addition, keloids share several pathobiological features with other fibrotic diseases. We applied experimental methods and antifibrotic agents in our research on keloid.
