The etiology of keloids is unclear and there is no specific medication for them. Keloids gradually spreads without treat, therefore the patients need long-term therapy. However many patients discontinue the treatment. We evaluated the reasons why patients discontinue treatment for keloids. Clinical records of patients with keloid treated between 2005 and 2007 were reviewed, and patients were assessed with reference to reasons why they discontinued the treatment. Of 285 patients with keloid, 78 (27.3%) discontinued because of pain during the intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide. It is important to attempt to reduce the pain from injection for patients to continue their treatment for keloids.
